ICICI Bank to raise Rs 5,750 cr

The country's second largest lender ICICI Bank Ltd on Thursday said it would raise upto Rs 5,750 crore (Rs 57.5 billion) through public offer of equity shares.

The issue size will be Rs 5,000 crore (Rs 50 billion) and has a green shoe option of mopping up another Rs 750 crore (Rs 7.5 billion).

The issue will open for subscription on December 1 and close on December 6, the bank informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The bank has the option to operate a price stabilisation mechanism post listing and has appointed leading merchant banker J M Morgan Stanley as the stabilising agent.

The public issue is part of bank's consolidated capital raising exercise of upto Rs 8,050 crore (Rs 80.5 billion).

Another Rs 2,300 crore (Rs 23 billion) is proposed to be raised through an issue of American Depositary Shares including a public offering without listing' component in Japan, it added.

The issue will be made through the book-building route, and the price band will be announced prior to the opening of the issue.

The bank has reserved up to 5 per cent of the issue (Rs 250 crore) for existing retail shareholders of the bank.
