The rupee opened slightly higher by Rs 67.24 against Tuesday’s closing level of Rs 67.26 per dollar.

The rupee advanced from early gains and quoted higher by 13 paise to 67.13 in late morning deals following sustained bouts of dollar selling from banks and exporters amid rallying local equities.

The rupee opened slightly higher by Rs 67.24 against Tuesday’s closing level of Rs 67.26 per dollar at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market on Wednesday.

It gained further to Rs 67.12 on continued bouts of dollar selling from banks before quoting at 67.13 per dollar at 1030 hours.

Meanwhile, the dollar index was up 0.0090 per cent at 95.81 as against a basket of six global currencies.

Overseas, the dollar were slightly below a two-month highs against its major rivals in early Asian trade after a mixed bag of US economic data slightly tempered expectations of a near-term Federal Reserve rate hike.

Meanwhile, the benchmark Sensex was trading higher by 179.30 points, or 0.67 per cent, to 26,847.26 at 1050 hours.
