HHI plans budget hotels in Mumbai, Goa

The HHI Group of hotels would set up budget hotels in Mumbai and Goa to meet the requirements of middle and junior level executives of companies.

D K Jaiswal, chairman of HHI Group said that an amount of Rs 50 crore (Rs 500 million) had been earmarked for investments for constructing the new properties which would have 100 rooms each.

Inaugurating the HHI's fine dining and lounge bar 'Virgose' on Monday, Jaiswal said that the group had invested Rs 20 crore (Rs 200 million) in refurbishing the hotel, one of the first five-star properties of Kolkata.

Besides Mumbai and Goa, the HHI group had also acquired a property in Bangalore and would be opened after refurbishing the hotel thoroughly.

Jaiswal said that the group was in talks with several foreign hospitality chains for marketing the HHI brand across the country.

At present, the group has properties in Kolkata and Varanasi only. He said that the group was also talking to the West Bengal government for getting land at Rajarhat for constructing a budget hotel.

Jaiswal said that the group now plans to target the mid-segment, which was growing fast.
