Gold prices dip to 6,545

Gold prices declined further on the bullion market in Mumbai on Tuesday on persistent stockist offerings in view of the fall in the overseas markets.

Silver also dropped further on lack of industrial enquiries. Standard gold (99.5 purity) dropped by Rs 30 per 10 grams to Rs 6,545 from the overnight closing levels of Rs 6,575.

Pure gold (99.9 purity) also fell by Rs 25 per 10 grams to Rs 6,585 from Rs 6,610 previously. Silver ready (.999 fineness) also finished lower at Rs 12,140 as compared to Rs 12,265 previously.

In the overseas markets, Hong Kong gold resumed lower at $452.00/452.50 per ounce as against $454.50/455.00 previously.

Gold futures on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange ended nearly $2 lower on Monday. The most-active February contract (100 oz. each) settled by $1.90 lower at $455.90 per ounce.
