GM to increase multi-brand outlets to 60

General Motors India plans to increase the number of multi-branded showrooms to 55-60 across the country by this year end.

GM has set a sales target of 18,000-19,000 cars for the current fiscal. It plans to enter the pre-owned car segment shortly and it has tied up with Automart in Mumbai for this.

The company opened its 38th multi-branded showroom and the first in Andhra Pradesh, KUN Automobiles Ltd, in Hyderabad today. Multi-branded showrooms facilitate sale of two brands -- Chevrolet and Opel -- under one roof.

Under the new concept, the company moves from single brand to multi-brand manufacturing and retailing.

As part of GM's multi-brand franchise, the new showroom will retail GM Chevrolet and Opel brands in twin cities. GM plans to open another multi-branded showroom in Visakhapatnam shortly.

After the inauguration of the showroom, Amit Dutta, vice-president (sales), and Sanjeev Garg, director (vehicle, part sales), GM, addressed the media.
