Dismissing the CSO (Central Statistical Organisation) projection of 4.4 per cent GDP growth this fiscal, Planning Commission member N K Singh said the economy will grow by six per cent this year.

Singh said, the per capita income has increased to 4.5 per cent since 1991. Before 1991, the growth rate did not allow the per capita income to grow he added while addressing the foundation day function of the All India Management Association in New Delhi.

India had changed a lot in certain dimension and sectors like steel, engineering, banking, capital market and infrastructure as a whole have witnessed significant growth during the past couple of years, he informed.

Although the country had changed a lot, the pace of change was not "adequate" and there was a need for "vigorous" focus on public and private partnership to foster further growth, Singh said.
