7 firms bid for Dahej-Uran pipeline

Gail India has received bids from seven firms for the Rs 973 crore (Rs 9.73 billion) Dahej-Uran pipeline project.

According to a release issued by Gail to the Bombay Stock Exchange, bids have been received from three foreign and four Indian manufacturers.

"The Indian firms that have submitted bids include Jindal Saw, Welspun Gujarat Stahl Rohren, Man Industries and PSL. The foreign parties that have submitted bids include Leman Commodities S.A., Switzerland, Sumitomo, Japan and Liaoyang Steel Company, China," the release added.

The 474-km long DUPL project is expected to be completed by February 2007 at an estimated cost of Rs 1,830 crore (Rs 18.3 billion). Belgium-based Tractebel is the consultant for the project, the release added.
