Forex reserves rise to $163.033 bn

India's forex reserves increased by $157 million to stand at $163.033 billion during the week ended on June 16, as against $162.876 billion during the week ended June 9.

The reserves had decreased by $1.652 billion during the preceeding week ended June 9, compared to a week ago period.

Foreign currency assets increased by $160 million to $155.247 billion during the seven-day period ended June 16, according to figures released by the Reserve Bank of India.

Foreign currency assets in dollars include the effect of revaluation of non-US currencies such as Euro, Sterling, Yen held in reserves.

Reserve position in the IMF declined by $3-million to $776 million. Gold reserves remained static at $7.01 billion. However, SDRs remained unchanged at Rs 2 crore (Rs 20 million).
