Forex reserves down by $1 bn to $144 bn

Foreign currency reserves declined $1.055 billion to $144.222 billion for the week ended September 16, 2005, according to the weekly supplement released by the Reserve Bank of India on Saturday.

Foreign currency assets dropped $1.047 billion to $138.243 billion. Gold reserves and SDRs were unchanged at $4.535 billion and $4 million, respectively.

The Reserve Tranche Position with the IMF declined $8 million to $1.44 bn.
