Not only the common subscribers but even Finance Minister P Chidambaram is also peeved over the way mobile calls drop and wanted to know from Bharti Airtel group chairman Sunil Mittal when the problem would be fixed.

"When will calls not drop in Lutyens' Delhi?," Chidambaram asked Mittal at the NDTV Profit Business Award function on Monday evening.

Chidambaram had earlier, like an ordinary subscriber, lodged his complaint about call drops with the Airtel's grievances redressal cell.

Mittal responded to the query of Chidambaram by pointing out, "I am going to be very honest here. I was prepared for this question because this time you bypassed me and you went directly into my system to complain, but I got the message back".

Stating that a detailed reply has already been sent to the finance minister, Mittal said, "We are constantly trying to fix our network. It may sound very boring, but spectrum is an issue, especially for cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hydearbad, where intensity is high."

He further said that his company did not have permission to set up towers in certain areas of Lutyens' Delhi like North Block and South Block.

Mittal earlier received the 'Business Leader Transforming India Award 2008' from NDTV Profit.
