Is Jairam Ramesh tipped to be next FM?

Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh was taken by surprise on Tuesday when Uttaranchal Chief Minister N D Tiwari complimented him saying he is being tipped to become the next Finance Minister in place of P Chidambaram.

"Although Chidambaram is doing a good work, we understand that you (Ramesh) are the next Finance Minister," Tiwari said at a public function in Dehra Dun in the presence of Union Communication Minister Dayanidhi Maran.

Visibly embarrassed by Tiwari's comments, Ramesh merely quipped "no comment". But that was not the end of it.

Tiwari further described Ramesh as computer wizard much to his delight. "We will try to emulate your amazing memory power," Tiwari said.
