"I can't watch every day movements of the Sensex. In my view, the market movements, up or down, are in an orderly manner," Chidambaram said.
The finance minister also quoted Sebi chairman M Damodaran as saying that the movement was orderly.
On exchange rates, Chidambaram said, "Two way movements are orderly. The RBI governor has also said it was orderly. What needs to be looked at is the real effective exchange rate (REER)."
