Flights, trains on schedule

Domestic airlines and the railways have not effected any change in their schedules due to the blasts. "All flights to and from Mumbai will operate as per schedule," said a spokesperson for Indian Airlines. Jet Airways has also decided to stick to its schedule.

The railways have beefed up security and restrictions have been placed on train speed, though there were no disruptions to train schedules.

In Mumbai, vehicles were checked at the main exit points and on the highways connecting Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.

In Delhi, which remains high on terrorists' strike list, additional police forces have been deployed in crowded public places and vehicles are being searched at random.

In Ahmedabad, Chief Minister Narendra Modi has asked the police to maintain high vigil in sensitive areas, religious places and cinema halls.
