The appreciating value of the Indian rupee against the US dollar is unlikely to have any major impact on Indian exports, Union Commerce Minister Arun Jaitley said on Monday.
"I do not think there would be any impact. Or it there is some effect, it will be minimal, which has been already factored in by exporters while setting targets for the year," Jaitley said on the sidelines of the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations' Niryat Bhavan.
The exporters were able to put up an excellent performance during the last fiscal despite the rupee strengthening against dollar, he said.
The exporters managed to garner exports worth $50 billion despite adverse factors like an appreciating rupee, slowdown in the US economy and war in Iraq, he noted.
He said Indian exporters even managed to find some business opportunity in unfortunate incidents like war and the SARS outbreak.
