Dubai-based Emirates airlinesĀ announced on Tuesday it will offer the added convenience of selecting and securing preferred seats on flights for customers booking online.
Emirates is now making this feature available to customers of all classes instead of only those travelling first and business class, a press release said in Dubai.
The airline simultaneously launched the online service across its global websites, making it immediately available to
customers in more than 50 countries across Europe, North America, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Australasia.
"Travellers increasingly demand the convenience of organising their itineraries via the Internet," said Gaith al Gaith, Emirates executive vice-president for commercial operations worldwide.
In addition, Emirates said customers can also check-in for their flights between 24 and two hours in advance of
flight departure via the Internet, and select their seats from among those available at the time.
Passengers can check-in for groups of up to nine persons travelling together, as well as for connecting flights on
Emirates.
