Prices of 181 drugs revised

The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has set and revised the prices of 181 formulation packs in accordance with the guidelines and provisions of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order (DPCO), 1995.

Of these, the ceiling prices in respect of 101 formulation packs have been set under DPCO 1995 based on norms for bulk drugs Analgin (4 packs), Vitamin A (1 pack), Cefotaxime (5 packs) Erythromycine Basetearate (22 packs), Rifampicin (48 packs), Gentamycin (9 packs) and Tolnaftate & ICHQ (12 packs), according to an official release.

Besides, the prices of 80 non-ceiling packs, which include 10 imported insulin formulations, have also been set by the NPPA.  For the first time, prices have been regulated for 58 formulation packs.

While in the case of 116 packs, the prices have been reduced, ranging from 1 per cent to 36 per cent, they have been increased between 1 per cent to 8 per cent in the case of 7 packs.

The release added that the necessary revised price list was to be issued by manufacturers and importers as required under DPCO 1995. The revised price list in Form-V of the DPCO is to be furnished by concerned manufacturers to the government, distributors or any other agent.
