With the pesticide controversy yet to die down and the 'peak sale' summer season just round the corner, PepsiCo has slashed the price of its 300 ml pack by Rs 2 to Rs 6.

The soft drinks major is also likely to reduce the prices of its large packs of one litre and above.

Coca-Cola India has also followed suit, saying it will now offer the 1.5 litre pack for Rs 30 and the 2.25 litre pact for Rs 43. Coke says its 300 ml pack has been selling at Rs 6 for 'some time' now.

A Pepsi spokesperson confirmed that the 300 ml pack size will now cost Rs 6, instead of the earlier Rs 8 in most of the places in the country and across product categories. She attributed the price cut to the company's endeavour to offer more affordability and drive up volumes.

The price cuts by Coke and Pepsi follow the launch of the 200 ml size last year for Rs 5.
