Nasdaq-listed IT services major Cognizant has been chosen as the 'Best US company in India' for 2005 by the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce.
The company received the honour as part of the first Indo-American Corporate Excellence Awards instituted by the IACC, a release said.
Cognizant was selected for the award, based on its financial performance, human capital development, corporate social responsibility and its stellar contribution to Indo-US business, it said.
The award was presented to Cognizant by the United States Consul General in Mumbai, Angus T Simmons.
Cognizant's president and CEO Lakshmi Naryanan said it was a great honour for Cognizant.
"This is a prestigious recognition of our unique global business model, which includes high-touch customer relationship building and execution excellence. It is also a tribute to our customers, employees and other stakeholders, and a validation of Cognizant's leadership status amongst global IT services firms," he said.
Farokh T Balsara, chairman of the jury, I-ACE Awards said: "We commend Cognizant for its stellar contribution to the Indo-American trade and commerce and for winning the overall best US company in India award."
