Coffee Day plans overseas foray

Coffee Day Take Away, a division of India's largest coffee conglomerate, Amalgamated Bean Coffee Trading Company plans to open 50 outlets abroad by June this year.

The outlets would be opened in the Middle East and South East Asian countries, A G Putturaj, general manager (marketing), told reporters in Kochi on Tuesday.

Senior general manager D Sankaranarayanan said by March-end of this year the company expects to have a network of over 600 machines installed in Kerala with an overall total of 10,000 in the southern states and Mumbai from the present 6,500 installations.

To further expand its growth, it proposes to introduce various consumer/retailer initiatives and also plans to enter into strategic tie-ups with other companies to dispense a variety of co-branded beverages, he said.

Coffee Day said it proposes to touch a turnover of Rs 350 crore (Rs 3.5 billion) this fiscal from the present Rs 250 crore (Rs 2.5 billion).

The ISO 9002 certified company has over 5000 acres of coffee estates producing quality coffee beans for both the domestic and export markets.
