The final verdict issued in Beijing by the ministry of commerce stipulated that the tariff rate would be 32 per cent to 96 per cent on the investigated chloroforms.
The anti-dumping measures will not be applied to the five companies, which have signed price agreements with the commerce ministry, the official Xinhua news agency reported without naming them.
The commerce ministry held a hearing on June 14, 2004 on the domestic industrial damage caused by the dumping of chloroform produced by India, EU, South Korea and the US.
About 80 delegates from all sides, companies and law offices attended the hearing. According to the circular, the anti-dumping tax will last a term of five years.
China formally began the anti-dumping investigation on May 30, 2003. On April 8 2004, the ministry announced the preliminary verdict to collect cash deposit from importers of such products as a temporary anti-dumping measure.
