In a bureaucratic reshuffle, economic affairs secretary Rakesh Mohan will look after the key budget division following the appointment of expenditure secretary D Swarup as chairman of Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority.
Mohan, a former deputy governor of Reserve Bank, also has the banking division under him after the retirement of financial sector secretary N S Sisodia in January last.
D Swarup is taking up his new assignment as PFRDA chairman after his retirement as expenditure secretary.
Adarsh Kishore, a 1969 batch Indian Administrative Service officer from the Rajasthan cadre, took over as the new expenditure secretary. He is presently officer on special duty in the expenditure department.
Swarup, an Indian audit and accounts service officer, continued to be in-charge of the budget division even after becoming expenditure secretary a couple of years ago.
Swarup has been involved in budget preparation for the last 12 years.
