Micro Technologies said on Tuesday it has tied up with India's largest private cellular operator Bharti Airtel to offer mobile security services to the latter's subscribers in the national capital regions and Gujarat.

Through Micro Lost Mobile Tracking System, Micro Technologies would provide security to the mobile handsets of Airtel subscribers, the firm informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The application would have a software in the GSM enabled mobile handsets that would inform the user about the new mobile number, which replaced the original number, through an e-mail, Micro Technologies said.

The application would also inform the user about the International Mobile Equipment Identity number with the current location of the handset.

The IMEI number is used to identify valid devices and, therefore, can be used to stop a stolen phone from accessing the network.

The Airtel customers can subscribe for the LMTS service by logging on to the Airtel website or by contacting the service provider, the filing added.

Micro Technologies provides high-end security in the areas of mobile security, automobile security and monitoring systems, among others.

Shares of Micro Technologies were trading at Rs 228, up 4.95 per cent on the BSE.
