Car sales zoomed nearly 38 per cent to 59,800 units in July when compared with 43,434 units sold in July 2002, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers on Thursday.
SIAM, in an official release, said sales advanced 32.50 per cent to 2,09,501 units between April-July as against 1,58,110 units sold in the year-ago period.
Commercial vehicle sales moved up to 19,280 units in July. Offtake in the April-July period was higher at 66,179 units.
Motorycle sales advanced 21 per cent to 3,01,675 units in July from 2,48,506 units in July 2002. Sales between April-July were up 10 per cent at 12,76,412 units as against 11,56,115 units in the year-ago period, the release added.
