Announcing its India expansion plans, Country Inns and Suites by Carlson on Thursday said it would increase its total number of hotels to 25 by 2012 with the development of new properties across the country.

CIS, which is a part of the Carlson Hospitality Worldwide, is already working on two hotels slated to come up in Goa and Bangalore next year.

"As of now we have six hotels, which we are managing and we are in the process of adding two new hotels in Goa and Bangalore by 2007," Sanjeev Pahwa, VP,  Carlson Inns and Suites told PTI.

He said a total of about 230 rooms would be added through the two new hotels taking the company's total number of rooms to about 900.

"Our hotel in Goa would be built by the Kamanis at an investment of about Rs 40 crore (Rs 400 million), but it would be managed by us," Pahwa said, adding that overall the company planned to have 25 hotels by 2012.

He said the Bangalore hotel would also have 110 rooms. It would be a part of a complex, which would also house an IT park and a business centre.

"We will also set up hotels in Amritsar, Baddi, Chandigarh, Dalhousie and Navi Mumbai," he said. Pahwa also said the group would also build a couple of its own projects in the coming one-two years.

"We have two-three projects of our own, which are likely to come up in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi and Gurgaon in a couple of years," he said.
