March car sales up 3%, motorcycles down by 3.5%

Domestic passenger car sales grew by 2.89 per cent in March at 114,195 units as against 110,978 units in the same month a year ago.

According to figures released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, domestic motorcycle sales during the month stood at 517,334 units as against 536,220 units in the same month a year ago, down by 3.5 per cent.

Overall, the total two-wheeler sales for March were at 643,857, dipping by 0.51 per cent over 647,182 units sold in the year-ago period.

Domestic commercial vehicles sales during the month grew by 13.2 per cent at 49,245 units as against 43,502 units in the corresponding month a year ago.
