Boeing on Tuesday said it would finalise by June the location for its $100 million maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in India.

The aircraft giant has shortlisted sites from six states for its MRO facility. "We have received proposals from six Indian states for setting up the MRO facility. This will be finalised by June," Dinesh A Keskar, senior vice-president (sales), Boeing Commercial Airplanes said in Mumbai.

The Boeing team is evaluating capabilities of six locations from the states including Maharashtra, Kerala, Delhi, and West Bengal.

The US aerospace firm had announced, earlier this month, that it will invest $100 million to set up a MRO facility as part of its Rs 35,000 crore (Rs 350 billion) aircraft deal with the national carrier Air India.

"This MRO facility will have stock of parts and components which will enable the airlines to have the complete repair and overhaul works done here," Keskar said. Air-India would buy 18 Boeing 737-800s, 27 Boeing 787s and 23 aircraft including Boeing 777-300 ER and 777-200 LR.
