Boeing, the world's biggest aerospace company and aircraft manufacturer, is setting up a new corporate entity in India aimed at tapping the non-commercial aviation sector in the country.
The global major, which gets about 55 per cent of its revenue from the non-commercial aviation sector finds the Indian defense and satellite sectors as a good business prospect.
The company, expects that with a direct presence here, it would be able to expand its existing relationships in these areas.
"India is one of the potential markets for us in the non-commercial aviation sector too. We are setting up a new corporate structure in India to tap this sector," said Anil Shrikhande, vice-president, Boeing, South Asia.
Boeing, which is the largest US exporter, with a 2002 turnover of $54.1 billion, also wants to develop India as a research and development hub for engineering analysis and aerospace design. It will also outsource technology-oriented work from here.
The company already works with Indian software services companies such as Infosys, to outsource software and technology development work.
