Research in Motion, the makers of smart phones BlackBerry, on Wednesday unveiled its high-end 'BlackBerry 8800' for the Indian market at a price of Rs 31,990.

Targeting the enterprise business executive, 'BlackBerry 8800' is the thinnest model from the RIM stable and the sixth of the model to be provided by service providers Hutch and Airtel, RIM vice-president (Asia Pacific) Norm Lo told reporters in New Delhi.

"We had a tremendous response to our BlackBerry Pearl and the new 8800 is for the enterprise customers to handle both business and personal life," he said.

Asked on tie-ups with more carriers, especially in the CDMA space, Lo said that while there was nothing on at the moment, the company aims to provide more choices to its customers.

Blackberry is expected sell 80 lakh phones worldwide with the last 100,000 coming in the fourth quarter of the current fiscal.

Its biggest market is North America, which contributes about three quarters of the sales.

Among distinct features, 'BlackBerry 8800' is 14 mm and the first of the smartphones to offer GPS support. It has full QWERTY keyboard, user-friendly trackball navigation system, multimedia features and a microSD expandable memory slot.

The EDGE-enabled phone features noise cancellation, voice activated dialing, intuitive call management etc along with battery power of 522 hours on standby and 300 minutes on talktime. The phone is likely to hit shop shelves this week.
