Tata Motors is banking on revotron engine to tap the petrol passenger car segment with three modes of drive.
Tata Motors on Thursday launched new hatchback BOLT at a price starting from Rs 4,65,000 and expects the model to boost its market share to double digits in the segment.
"Our hatchback marketshare is about 4-4.5 per cent and with BOLT, we are confident to cross double digit in the next three months," Tata Motors passenger vehicles sales head (south & east) Ashesh Dhar said.
The company launched the sporty hatchback at Rs 4,65,000-6,31,000 for petrol version that has its new revotron engine while diesel version ranges between Rs 5,75,000 and Rs 7,30,000 depending on variants.
Dhar said its existing hatchback models Indica and Vista are selling between 4000-4500 units per month.
"BOLT will receive good response as we have got for Zest which was launched in September last," he said.
Dhar said the company has delivered about 16,000 units of Zest which helped raising marketshare for sedan from 7 to 12 per cent. "We have 4-6 weeks of waiting for Zest.
Diesel and petrol variants would command 50:50 in sales for the sedan," he said.
Dhar ruled out that BOLT will replace its existing models in the hatchback category saying each of the two present models are selling 2000-2500 units per month each.
