Tata Motors said on Friday it has raised the prices of its passenger and commercial vehicles by up to Rs 40,000 with immediate effect because of rising input costs and implementation of new emission norm.

"The price increase in passenger cars is on the Tata Indica and the Tata Indigo family, in the range of Rs 4,500 to Rs 14,000, depending upon the model," Tata Motors said.

"The increase is effective from today," it added.

The company has raised the rates of its utility vehicles Sumo and Grande MK II by Rs 7,800-Rs 10,300.

On the commercial vehicle front, the company has increased the product prices between Rs 5,000 and Rs 40,000.
