Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra said it has hiked prices of its utility vehicles by up to Rs 26,100.

"The prices of all our vehicles are increased due to Bharat Stage-IV emission norms and slight effect of commodity price increase," a Mahindra & Mahindra spokesperson told PTI.

The effect of fuel price increase has also been taken into account while determining the quantum of hike, he added.

M&M has increased the price of its flagship sports utility vehicle Scorpio between Rs 10,300 and Rs 17,500. It has also hiked utility vehicle Bolero's price by Rs 26,100.

The official said the company's latest offering Xylo will now be expensive by Rs 15,300-15,900. From this month, 13 cities across the country has switched over to Bharat Stage IV emission norms.

Following this, many carmakers, including Hyundai, General Motors and Toyota, have increased the vehicle prices.

With newer technology required for upgradation, auto companies had said they would have to pass on the increased cost to customers.

In February, following the 2-per cent increase in excise duty on all non-oil products to 10 per cent in the Budget, auto players had hiked prices by up to Rs 70,000.
