US aircraft maker Boeing agreed on Tuesday that state-run Air India was entitled to compensation from it for delays in the delivery of Dreamliner planes.

"Air India is entitled for compensation for the delays in the delivery of Boeing 787 Dreamliners," said Boeing India president Dinesh Keskar.

The state-run carrier had ordered 27 Dreamliners, but Boeing failed to supply those planes by the scheduled September 2008 timeline. Air India has sought compensation of $710 million from Boeing for the delay in deliveries.

Air India chairman and MD Arvind Jadhav had told the Committee on Public Undertakings that the "US aircraft maker had confirmed $145 million as compensation for the delay in deliveries".
