Aeroflot will resume services from Moscow to Mumbai five times a week with effect from January 24 with TU 214 aircraft.

Depending on the traffic, the flights would be made daily and the airline could consider replacing it with a Boeing 777, Aeroflot external relations director Alexey A Sidorov told newspersons in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The airline is already operating on the Moscow-Delhi sector with eight services a week and the additional frequencies to Mumbai, which is in code share with Air-India, will increase passenger capacity by 800 seats a week, he said.

The flights will not operate on Thursdays and Saturdays, he said, adding that onward connections would be provided to Europe and United States from Moscow.

The airline, which is 49 per cent owned by employees and legal entitites and 51 per cent by the government, has a fleet of Boeing 777s, 767s, 737s and Airbus A310 besides Russian aircraft.
