Anil Ambani group distanced itself from CBI's action on Monday accusing top officials of Reliance Infocomm for illegal call routing (before the split between Ambani brothers) saying, "reported CBI criminal case relates to a period prior to reorganisation when Mukesh Ambani was chairman."

The ADAG said in a statement that officials accused by CBI belong to Reliance Industries Limited controlled by elder Ambani sibling Mukesh.

CBI has registered a case against four senior officials of Reliance Infocomm and some unknown officials of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited for 'masking' international calls as local ones through a specially designed software.

The CBI named Manoj Modi, then director of Reliance Infocomm, Akhil Gupta, then CEO, A Shankar, then head of the company's corporate affairs, Pankaj Panwar, then head regulator of the company and other unnamed officials of Reliance and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited in its case, the CBI had said.

"Manoj Modi heads RIL's retail business and Shankar Adwal looks after RIL's government relations in Delhi," ADAG spokesperson said.
