A lawyers' body in Chennai has filed a petition in the Madras high court seeking suspension of 15 police personnel, including city Police Commissioner K Radhakrishnan, for the alleged attack on advocates, judges, court staff and litigants on its premises on February 19.
A group of around 300 lawyers on Monday went on a day-long fast in front of the Madras High Court, a day after their associations decided to indefinitely boycott courts to press their demands, including action against police officials for the February 19 lathicharge in the court premises.
The Madras High Court Advocates Association has, meanwhile, said no lawyers will represent the accused in the case and sought 'strong punishment' for them.
