Rs 500,000 offered for information on Delhi blasts

The Delhi government on Monday hiked to Rs 500,000 the reward for "authentic and specific" clues on the series of blasts to rock the capital this month.

Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma said in addition to the Rs 200,000 announced by the police government, the Delhi government would give another Rs 300,000 for correct and specific information on the four blasts which killed six and injured over a hundred. The information can be given to the chief minister's office, the lieutenant-governor's office or to the chief secretary.

Besides rewarding the informant, the government and police promised to provide him or her maximum security cover, he said.

Verma also appealed to the people, specifically shop keepers, to be on an alert against suspicious-looking objects.

Staff on Delhi Transport Corporation buses have also been instructed to maintain constant vigil on their routes, he added.

On Sunday the chief minister announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 50,000 to the next of kin of the woman killed in Sunday's blast at Karol Bagh. He also announced Rs 10,000 to those seriously injured and Rs 5,000 to those with minor injuries.
