Jagannath Mishra floats new party, ties up with UF

The newly formed Bihar Vikas Party, headed by former chief minister Jagannath Mishra, is likely to align with the United Front in the Lok Sabha election.

UF sources said the BVP, a breakaway Congress group, would neutralise the gains of former chief minister Laloo Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal which plans to align with the Congress.

The Left parties -- the Communist Party of India and the Communist Party of India-Marxist -- are all likely to join hands to counter the RJD-Congress combination while the Bharatiya Janata Party is teaming up with George Fernandes's Samata Party.

Asked about the BVP-UF alliance's prospects, Janata Dal president Sharad Yadav said the UF would certainly emerge as a leading force in this politically important state, he added.
