The United States has condemned the blasts in Varanasi that killed at least 20 persons and injured scores, calling them "acts of terrorism".
"If you take a look at it, it is quite clear that these are acts of terrorism, although at this point I can't tell you who's responsible for these bombings. So we would certainly condemn these acts," State Department Spokesman Sean McCormack said on Tuesday.
He also offered condolences and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
"And clearly our hearts go out to those who've lost loved ones and we wish a speedy recovery to those who were injured in these bomb blasts," the spokesman said.
