Madhu Sharma

Onkar Singh in Chandigarh

Madhu Sharma, wife of R K Sharma, Inspector General of Police (prisons) Haryana, and main accused in the Shivani Bhatnagar murder case, has denied accusing either Union Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani or his deputy I D Swami of trying to fix her husband.

"I did not say that a minister is trying to fix him," she clarified to mediapersons at her Sector 6 residence in Panchkula near Chandigarh, with her advocate Ravi Sharma by her side.

Madhu Sharma admitted that her husband knew the journalist who was murdered in her east Delhi residence on January 23, 1999.

However, Madhu Sharma refused to answer questions on how long the two had known each other.

She said that no one from the Delhi police had contacted her as yet.

Sharma's interim bail application will come up for hearing before Additional Sessions Judge (Panchkula) H S Bangoo on Saturday.

The Delhi police believes that, unless he is caught, R K Sharma without exercising all the legal options.

Sharma's legal counsel refused to comment on the matter.
