BSF jawan killed, another injured in Manipur ambush

A Border Security Force jawan was killed and another injured when unidentified militants ambushed a BSF patrol in Churachandpur district of Manipur Thursday.

Official sources said BSF personnel belonging to the 32nd battalion were attacked by extremists while patrolling Kumbi Pukhri area, about 55 kms south of Imphal, at 7.30 am.

While one jawan was killed on the spot, another was seriously injured. He was taken to a nearby hospital, the sources said.

The BSF personnel returned fire but casualties, if any, on the other side was not known.

A combing operation has been launched.
