Krishna rules out change in strategySyed Amin Jafri in Hyderabad Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna on Tuesday ruled out change in strategy to secure the release of Kannada film star Dr Rajakumar, who is being held hostage by forest brigand Veerappan. Krishna, in Hyderabad to deliver the Sardar Vallabhbai Patel memorial lecture at the National Police Academy, told newsmen that "the same situation is continuing". On whether he was planning any change in strategy, the chief minister shot back, "We don't plan any change in strategy. After our (Karnataka and Tamil Nadu chief ministers') meeting at Bangalore, we have decided that the strategy will continued to be pursued. I don't think it is necessary to change at this stage. We have to wait and watch the Supreme Court decision on the release of Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act detenus." Responding to criticism that the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu governments had capitulated to the demands of the forest brigand, Krishna quipped, "This is only one way of looking at it. We know our decision will be commented upon for long. Hadn't the V P Singh government surrendered to secure the release of Rubaiya Saayed (daughter of then Union minister Mufti Mohammed Saayed abducted by Kashmiri militants in 1990)?''
