Rajakumar release put
off to Monday night

The team of emissaries comprising journalist emissary R R Gopal, Tamil National Movement leader P Nedumaran and two others are still holding talks with forest brigand Veerappan to secure the release of Kannada film icon Dr Rajakumar and two others, even as there were rumours that the hostages were released by the brigand.

Describing as rumours reports that the hostages were released and heading for Madras, Nakkeeran associate editor A Kamaraj said in a press release on Monday afternoon that a positive development regarding the release was expected on Monday night.

Kamaraj said the magazine's reporters in the forest were keeping in touch with associates of Veerappan and conveying progress of the talks.

Besides Nedumaran and Gopal, on his fifth mission, the other emissaries are human rights activists Prof Kalyani and Pudhuvai Sugumaran.
