Final talks on Lanka reforms on FridayPresident Chandrika Kumaratunga has reiterated that her government would seek co-operation from all political parties represented in Parliament to pass the new constitution. She said talks between the ruling Peoples' Alliance and opposition United National Party on constitutional reforms had progressed very satisfactorily and the final round of talks would be held on Friday. The president said the PA started the process of finding a solution to the ethnic problem with the support of all political parties. ''Our only aim is to ensure that the future generation does not have to face the scourge of terrorism,'' she said. The president initiated talks with the opposition and other Tamil parties in March. The draft constitution aimed at giving more powers to minority Tamils may be presented in parliament by the month-end. UNI
