SC puts off TADA detainees' case till Sept 1Fakir Chand in Bangalore The Supreme Court bench of Justices S P Bharucha, S M S Kadri and Santosh Hegde put off their verdict on the bail plea of 51 Terrorist And Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act detainees on Friday till September 1, in New Delhi. Government emissary R R Gopal has, however, already left for the jungles to meet sandalwood smuggler Veerapan, for the release of Karnataka matinee idol Dr Rajakumar. The judges passed the order at 1500 hours IST, after they heard arguments of the defence counsel earlier in the day. A special leave petition was filed by former director general of police Abdul Kareem, who is also the father of slain sub-inspector Shakeel Ahmed, in the Supreme Court after the Mysore court granted conditional bail to the detainees, who are former associates of Veerapan. With this decision, the news of which Veerappan is likely to hear on the radio, the release of Rajakumar and three others is likely to get further delayed. Rajakumar was abducted by Veerappan on July 29.
