Acting chief justice sworn in as governor

Rajasthan high court acting chief justice Navrang Lal Tibrewal was sworn in as acting governor in Jaipur this evening, in place of Darbara Singh who passed away last evening.

The senior-most judge of the high court, Justice V S Kokje, administered the oath of office to Justice Tibrewal at a simple and brief ceremony in the Raj Bhavan.

The state chief secretary Arun Kumar read out his warrant of appointment.

Several ministers, including deputy chief minister Harishankar Bhabhra, and high officials were present.

Born on January 17, 1937 in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan, Tibrewal had started legal practice at Jhunjhunu district and subordinate courts in 1959. He was appointed as high court judge on July 20,1990, and took charge as its acting chief justice on April 10 last month following the retirement of the then acting chief justice, M P Singh.
