Kalpnath Rai continues his campaign against Narasimha Rao
This time, it is the urea scandal
Former minister Kalpnath Rai holds
former prime minister P V Narasimha Rao personally responsible
for the Rs 1.33 billion urea scam and says "I will not rest unless
and until he is brought to book."
Rai told a news conference in Delhi that his one point programme
was to destroy Rao and demanded the immediate arrest
of the former premier, Sanjeeva Rao, A N Verma (formerly principal secretary to Rao) and
N K Sharma (Rao's troubleshooter) for their alleged complicity in the urea scam.
He demanded that a national commission headed by two Supreme
Court judges be appointed to inquire into the role of the prime
minister's office during Rao's stewardship.
Rai said his demand was simple: The law should take its own course in
Rao's case as the former PM advocated the same in the case of others.
He said he had submitted memoranda to the president
and prime minister who had
assured him that they will "look in to the matter."
