M Mohanan, who earlier directed the highly successful Kadha Parayumbol, which starred Mammootty as the super star and Sreenivasan as his barber friend, is now shooting his second Malayalam film.

Kadha Parayumbol was made in Tamil as Kuselan and in Hindi as Billu with Rajnikanth and Shah Rukh Khan acting as the super stars, respectively. Pasupathy and Irffan Khan played the role of barber in Tamil and Hindi.

Mohanan's new film is titled Maanikyakkallu. Prithviraj, whose recent action films flopped miserably, is playing a school teacher in this film. Samvritha Sunil is the heroine.

Prithviraj is Vinayachandran, who opts to join a school in a remote village. Less than forty students are studying in the school and the teachers are all engaged in their own businesses. But the new teacher brings a great difference to the whole atmosphere.

Samvritha is Chandni, a 'PT teacher' (Physical Education Teacher) in the same school who gets the job after her father's death.

The film also stars Nedumudi Venu, Salim Kumar, KPAC Lalitha, Anil Murali and Kottayam Nazeer.

Manikyakkallu is being produced under the banner of Gauri Meenakshi Movies.

The cinematographer is P Sukumar and the music director is M Jayachandran.

The shooting of the film is currently underway at Palakkad.
