Tata Consultancy Services aims to double its Latin American revenue to $100 million (about Rs 4.5 billion) this fiscal and said it is close to clinching two multi-million dollar outsourcing deals in Brazil.

"During the last fiscal, our Latin American revenues stood at about $50 million. We expect it to double this fiscal. Besides, a couple of outsourcing deals from the region are likely to be finalised soon," TCS Executive Vice President and Global Head (sales and operations) A Chandrasekharan told reporters in Mumbai on Monday.

One of these firms in Brazil will be in the financial sector and the deal size would be 'double digit million dollars', he said.

Stating that Latin American region has great potential as it has opened up for outsourcing in a bigger way, he said TCS headcount in the region would touch 3,000 by December.

"Currently, we employ 2,532 people in the region. We intend to go beyond 3,000 by this December," Chandrasekharan said.

The euro200 million outsourcing deal between TCS and ABN Amro had given the company an added edge in the region, he said, adding it was exploring similar opportunities in the region.

Last September, TCS had signed a five-year contract valued at Euro 200 million with Dutch bank ABN Amro to provide applications support and enhancements across the Bank. This is the largest deal won by an Indian IT services firm ever.

The company is executing the deal mainly from its Latin American centre.

Last fiscal, TCS acquired two new key customers in the Latin American region with a total deal value of over $30 million.

TCS will manage the BPO and IT operations for Transantiago, the modernised integrated public transportation system planned for Chile's capital city of Santiago.

It has secured a five-year contract with a leading banking and financial group to manage the entire set of back office operations for the bank's loan and credit business in Chile.

"We have operations in 14 countries in the region, with 150 clients and seven delivery centers across Uruguay, Brazil and Chile, we are well positioned to provide world-class integrated IT and BPO services and provide superior value to clients in this region," he said.

In November 2005, TCS had acquired Comicrom, the largest BPO firm in Chile with 1,300 employees and over 100 clients in a strategy to jumpstart its BPO business in the region. Comicrom has been completely integrated with TCS.
