Prasanthi begins Y2K programme

Addressing a press conference, Prasanthi Managing Director, Siva S Kumar Ragala, said the 250-hour full-time course is meant for computing professionals, master degree holders in science and computer science graduates who would like to adapt the technology to work on Y2K projects worldwide.

"However, the course goes much beyond just managing the Y2K problem. It is also aimed at imparting skills in the IBM mainframe environment," he said, adding that training would be provided by Tulec which has tied up with Information Management Resources Limited which has in turn a tieup with Computer Associates Inc to offer training on CA-Realia Workbench.

Stating that the course is to empower students with the ability to tackle the Y2K problem, Ragala said Rs 30,000 would be charged for training, after which certificates endorsed by CA would be issued.

Stressing that no assurance would be given for placement, he said the company is planning tieups with foreign firms to get into full-time software development. "This is only to establish a base in India. For this, we need people and hence recruit those who are trained by us."
